You will no doubt be aware that as part of the HFC Phasedown Government are looking seriously at the Health & Safety implications.
There has been consultation in recent months for which we and many others have provided feedback and information. We have been sent the below information from MBIE to pass on to the industry. I think the email and the attached discussion paper is self-explanatory, however if you wish to discuss please feel free to get in touch.
The consultation period is extensive and should give everyone sufficient time to voice their opinions. As noted below there is more information on the Ministry for Business Innovation and Employment website.
The Ministry of Business, Innovation and Employment (MBIE) has commenced a consultation process to ensure effective regulation of health and safety risks associated with refrigerants including toxic or flammable refrigerant gases. We are now seeking your views on the proposals set out in the attached discussion document.
The discussion document sets out a number of proposals that aim to reduce the likelihood of harm to persons and property from the expected increase in toxic and flammable refrigerant use as New Zealand transitions away from using Hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs).* It has been developed to give interested parties an opportunity to express their ideas and opinions on the proposals.
We encourage the following parties to make a written submission on the issues and proposals set out in the discussion document:
This consultation process will benefit from having the widest possible input from all the interested parties. Your feedback will help us to refine our knowledge and understanding of the issues. It will help provide us with a better understanding of the likely effectiveness of the identified options, inform us of other possible changes, and the likely costs and benefits.
